This forum focuses on the conservation strategies carried out by various institutions, the Government and foundations of Caldas regarding biodiversity. Although many activities are focused on bird watching and birdwatching, in this space we want to highlight the conservation of protected areas as a fundamental basis for protecting ecosystems that not only house birds, but also a large amount of biodiversity. In this order of ideas, it is important to highlight the commitment of different key local actors such as public and private entities of the department such as Corpocaldas, CHEC, Caldas Liquor Industry, and Corporación Vivo Cuenca.

Additionally, it is intended to address the importance of collaborative work, not only from the aforementioned entities, but also the linking of local actors to conservation strategies, awareness and knowledge of biodiversity and responsible economic alternatives with the protection of strategic ecosystems for Caldas.

Finally, it is important to know what the short, medium and long-term commitments of these protected areas are and how actors can be articulated to promote the conservation of biodiversity and how to protect, in the good sense of the word, these sites as they are key to maintaining ecological dynamics and ecosystem services.
