During the twelve versions of the Birdwatching Congress held between 2009 and 2024, the congress has positioned itself nationally and internationally as a specialized event for training in birdwatching, presentation of world-class success stories, exhibition of scientific projects, inclusion of citizen science and the participation of multiple local and regional actors in the nature tourism value chain in the academic agenda with keynote lectures, workshops, forums, educational symposia and/or exhibition of scientific posters.

The experiential agenda includes practical workshops in specialized birdwatching areas recognized as hotspots in different thermal zones and ecosystems located between 850 and 4,100 meters above sea level, in Manizales, Villamaría, Chinchiná, and Neira. The experience allows participants to explore routes, birdwatching lodges, ecoparks, and nature reserves directly in the territory of Caldas and learn about a high percentage of its 841 bird species, in addition to interacting with rural communities in a sustainable tourism destination that promotes the conservation of their habitats, culture, and art.
