Clubs and communities

Caldas / Colombia

In the 12th version of the Birdwatching Congress, the work of these clubs will continue to be made visible through leaders, teaching staff, children and what they do in their communities. For this reason, they will be included in a strategic group of missions and participation in the academic agenda, sharing experiences of rural and community progress and entrepreneurship in each of the stages of the value chain in birdwatching. They will also receive theoretical and practical training and experiences of bird watching directly in the territory.

In this forum, we intend to address issues related to the interactions between communities and birds and how these transform communities and the environment. To have a broader view of local dynamics, there will be representation of birdwatching clubs from Caldas and representatives of some indigenous reservations from Riosucio (Caldas). The objective will be to socialize the practices, activities, and influence of local actors in bird conservation and how this impacts the community in general, biodiversity, and decision-making in the different environments in which they are present.

Finally, the aim is to have an overview of the trajectory of local birdwatchers over time and the transformations that have been generated in the municipalities through birds by means of birdwatchers. The reflection will be on how the sum of local actions generates impacts on a regional, national, and international scale.
